From Producer’s Perspective – Pre to Post Production
Learn about producing, budgeting, scheduling, script breakdown on films with Johnny Wu

Johnny Wu is an award winning filmmaker has produced, directed, edited, branded and marketed over 30 videos for commercials, shorts, feature films and has produced several events throughout Los Angeles and Cleveland . He has always been able to make films under or within the budget and with a precise production schedule. A Jokers Card shot in 4 days and the his sci-fi/Anime-styled action feature film The Rapture, which has distribution worldwide was made possible in 11 days. His short film Jean Claude the Gumming Zombie has already screening at over 6+ film festivals since it was released in March 2009 including Ingenuity, and gotten raving reviews. And his recent fan film S: A Superman Fan Film, currently finishing in Post-Production, already being accepted to several film festivals and will premiere at a prestigious theatre in Cleveland.

Workshop: Marketing and Publicity!
Learn about the what, how, when, where to market and publicize for your film in today’s world. How to prepare Press Releases and work with the news media (reporters, etc) and ultimately get Distribution in US and Foreign / Film Markets & Presentation / Trailers/Teasers for sales market / Internet and New Media / Short film… Can it be distributed? Treat your film as a product and you then can sell!

 In continuing from Producer’s Perspective, Johnny Wu will give you indepth on how to brand and market your product, in this case, a film (short or feature or web-episodes). Mr. Wu not only has been a successful filmmakers that has numerous award winning films under his belt, he is also produced numerous events since 1995 including Charity Jam with Alicia Keyes, Steven Seagal, Kevin Bacon, etc. to the success of Cleveland’s own Cleveland Asian Festival (considered by Plain Dealer one of the top 5 festivals not to miss in Summer), which in its 2nd year, brought in over 30,061 attendees. Mr. Wu will give you in-depth on what you can do to properly market ANYTHING.

Panel Discussion - How an actor can better their performance
Listen to award winning actors (paneled by Kristina Michelle, Kyle Znamenak and Annie Kitral) to  talk about how they improve their acting skill and how to practice to better their performances

Kyle Znamenak, a psychology graduate student, became involved in acting at an early age on the stage, but his success began in 2003 with the award winning short film "A Joker's Card". Later in 2005, Znamenak became involved with Johnny K. Wu's feature film "The Rapture" working along with Annie Kitral; where he participated not only as an actor, but was also given the opportunity to be a co-executive producer. Kyle has continued his venture as a producer by producing Image TV Ohio, a non-profit Cleveland television program specifically for the Asian community.  Znamenak has starred and co-writer for "Jean Claude the Gumming Zombie" collaborating with Jim Geier, and “En Passant” with Johnny K. Wu. Currently, Kyle is starring in J. Carlos Gonzalez’s short film “Currahee” a story of two soldiers trapped in a chicken coupe fending off a creature that is trying to eat them and the soon to be release S: A Superman Fan Film by Johnny K. Wu. Kyle has also starred in several 48hrs film projects and many web commercials. His future projects include the feature film "Trail of Bodies". Znamenak also appeared in brings his knowledge and experience within psychology in every role that he portrays.

 Anne Kitral has co-starred on such projects as “The Rapture”, "Strong Medicine", "Judging Amy", "The Others", "The Practice", "My Bloody Valentine", "Riddle” starring Val Kilmer, “Vamps” and the currently in post production film “The Sibling” with Michael Clarke Duncan, Devon Sawa,  to name a few.

Kristina Michelle has been working in the film industry for nearly a decade. She has worked opposite stars such as Michael Madsen, Eric Roberts and more. She currently hosts and produces shows for The REEL TV Network, stars in The REEL Show and produces The Indie Gathering.

Panel Discussion : Sound and Scoring for Film

Discuss and talk to IndieGathering Score competition Winners on their take on scoring and mixing for movies (short of features).

Danny Ryan has been composing for all kinds of music for Jazz Big Band, Symphony Orchestra, Choir and various forces for many competitions (for example a piece for Trumpet and piano which qPress are in the process of publishing). His influences come from a number of areas, with favourite composers ranging from Sibelius and Stravinsky to Phillip Glass and Eric Whitacre. Among his favourite film composers are B. Herrmann, J. Goldsmith, J. Williams, T. Newman and M. Giacchino.

Understanding Green Screen Productions

Learn the basic understanding on how to incorporate Green Screen productions in your films. Learn from the people of Creative House Studios, the largest permanent free market green screen studio in Northeast Ohio with Peter Sampson, Johnny Wu.

The advance in technology in filmmaking prompts many to interact and understand more about shooting partially or entirely a scene or segment of a scene in a green screen studio or using green/blue screen sheets, this is to help enhance the story and it's visual rendition.

Panel Discussion – Scriptwriting for film
Learn the proper way of script writing and how to compose stories for film/video production, understand about the proper format and how to write for self-production or for the market. With Ed Messina, Alan Clay and Angela Hinton.

Edmund Messina - Prior to attending medical school in Chicago, Messina was a free-lance writer who studied film at the University of Lyon, in France and screen writing at Columbia College in Chicago. He has written, produced and directed many educational films, videos and experimental pieces in France and the United States. As a physician certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, he is a strong believer in building secondary characters modeled after the personality disorders described in the DSM-IV psychiatric manual. He also freely adapts the personality traits defined in the Five Factor Personality Model to combine well documented flaws to make unique, strong and memorable characters which ring very true. He combined decades of writing experience to craft the script of Lily’s Mom, showing at this festival.

Angela Hinton is a producer who has also written and directed family-friendly film and television projects.  She currently owns her own production company where she writes spec scripts and produces films.  She has earned a Presidential Student Service Gold Award for her years of work in children's television, developing, writing, producing, and hosting a series to teach children valuable character qualities. While obtaining her BA degree in film production, Angela had the good fortune of being mentored by such Hollywood legends as the late Frank Capra, Jr., president of Screen Gems Studios, Academy Award nominee Joe Hale, former Paramount studio executive Bud Filippo, and well-known writer Kermit Frazier.   She recently produced a captivating short documentary, “Animation: A Palette of Possibilities,” exploring the past, present and future of animation, and it has earned fifteen awards to date, including one during the Cannes Film Festival in France.

Alan Clay - New Zealand writer/director Alan Clay has 25 years international experience as a theatre director. In 2006 he wrote and directed a short film based on his novel ‘Moontan’. Alan wrote, directed and produced his first feature, Butterfly Crush, which was  released in New Zealand in 2010. The film is an adaptation of his second novel, ‘Dance Sisters’. It won the Californian ‘Accolade Award of Merit’ and the ‘Accolade Award of Excellence for Best Supporting Actor’.  It also won ‘Best International Narrative Feature’ at the Anthem Film Festival in Las Vegas and ‘Best Feature Drama’ at this year's Indie Gathering Film Festival.

Mary Ellen Tomazic, Actor Contracts

Attorney Mary Ellen Tomazic will talk more in-depth on actor’s contracts and what to pay attention on.

Over the last 27 years Ms. Tomazic has worked with many bands, singers, filmmakers and artists,

helping answer their legal questions from copyright, trademark and other intellectual property issues, to contracts and business organization. As a licensed attorney in Ohio she has used her legal training and experience to assist creative people in navigating through laws and regulations pertaining to their projects, often on a pro bono basis. She has negotiated and reviewed record company contracts for bands such as Death of Samantha, Purgatory, Toehead, Mushroomhead, The Dark, The Guns, Knifedance and Dead Federation. Filmmaker Johnny Wu and artist Scott Radke have also benefited from her work with their contracts and releases. She is currently the attorney for Tom Dark and his record label Red Hour Records, and recently negotiated and drafted a contract for the rerelease by SmogVeil Records of The New Hope Complilation, originally released in 1983, which was expanded into a double vinyl album with downloads.
      
Ms. Tomazic has been a featured speaker at the annual Indiegathering filmmakers convention in Cleveland since 2005, with talks on a variety of legal topics, including copyrights, trademarks, contracts, liability and business organizations such as partnerships, LLCs, and corporations.

 Panel Discussion: Guerrilla Filmmaking

What does it take to make a film ala Guerrilla style? Listen and talk to filmmakers that has the in-and-out about guerrilla filmmaking. With filmmakers Bruno Tatalovic, Angela Hinton and Stewart Fulljames.

B. R. Tatalovic was born in Belgrade, Serbia (former Yugoslavia). As a 21-year-old he moved to the U.S., and found a job in Cleveland's metal factories where he worked for fourteen years. At the same time he attended a local community college and learned photography and motion picture. During the late 1990s, Tatalovic created various portfolios in fine-art photography, digital imaging, and he covered political protests (1996) in his native Serbia as a freelance photojournalist. Today, he works as an independent motion picture producer/director, part-time actor, and he teaches film and television courses.
